Baked some steak & kidney pies. Had excess filling over English muffins for supper as these baked, will probably lunch these tomorrow.

I’ve never had steak and kidney pie. What’s it like? Is the kidney meat a significantly different texture?
We probably never had it because my mom detested all things with the name "kidney" in it after my oldest brother needed a kidney operation when I was little.

Whose kidneys did you steal to make that?

If you’ve had giblet gravy with chicken or turkey giblet, it’s a great deal like that. It’s a crisp, firm sort of meat that’s almost more like eating an oddly sharp flavored mushroom than bits of steak. Also a little like the sharply flavored and fine grained meat on a turkey drumstick.
I like it, but it's different.

Would you believe the supermarket has beef kidney for even cheaper than the cost of a bathtub's worth of ice? I mean, I suppose I could still do Operation Thunderbird Hobo for fun, but a deal is a deal.

Steak and kidney, nope from me.
I can’t get away with liver of kidney, the texture in my mouth is all wrong, the smell of it cooking, nope.
Give me a good old steak and ale gravy pie, minced beef and carrot, chicken and veg, etc... any day.
But you enjoy it bud.

Huh. I can’t say I’ve had giblet gravy before, at least not that I know of.
It sounds interesting.
